Firstly, I weighed myself this morning and the scale registered 13st 5lb. Which is in the right direction. I've been suffering from a cold - I still have a cough now, but I actually felt quite unwell last week and consequently didn't drag myself into work on either Monday or Tuesday. And I haven't really felt like upping my activity levels much either. Although, I did clean my kitchen thoroughly on Saturday, after I'd got some hot water available at last. Tonight will bring much laundry I think, including handling some ironing that's been ignored for a bit. I have been very parsimonious with my food portions, so I seem to be handling that well. I suffered from some genuine hunger pangs on Saturday, so immediately addressed that with a very low fat yogurt. Last night I cooked an extremely enjoyable risotto, with chicken and mushroom.
In addition to being careful with portion control, I'm experimenting with being frugal with the cost of the food that I purchase. This has mainly been precipitated by the fact that I'm having to spend a lot of money on getting the central heating and hot water system in my house replaced. Because it's being done on an unplanned basis, I had to get a loan to cover it. And the repayments are pretty hefty, so there's not too much left for groceries. So, I am having to think about my consumption patterns.
Very cheap meals so far have included:
Pilchards on toast, with cherry tomatoes
Mushroom and cherry tomato omelette
Jacket potato with cheese
Reduced fat cream crackers with chicken, ham and beef paste
Medium cheap meals have included:
Tuna pasta bake
Chicken stir fry
Houmous with celery, carrot and cucumber crudites
Roast chicken
Ratatouille
Chicken and mushroom risotto.
Breakfasts are tending towards fruit and yogurt. I have always eaten breakfast and I'm currently taking a medication that has to be taken after food, once a day. I've chosen to have it at breakfast. However, only three days left of that, after three months of taking it. Hopefully, it will have done the job and I can go forward. Anyhow, whilst not particularly YEEHAW about the weightloss, I understand that it is realistic and intellectually understand that it's a good start. My inner monkey is not quite so convinced, but it WILL submit to my rational self!
